First Baptist Church Bowie exists to help people find and follow God. We desire to serve you regardless of where you are in regards to faith. Whether you have been following God your entire life, are a new believer, or are simply looking for a place to ask questions, it is our desire to help you know God. We can't wait for you to visit and to welcome you home.

Our Mission

First Baptist Church exists to glorify God and make Him known to all people. To accomplish this mission, we are committed to:

Growing in Christ - We glorify God by believing in Christ for our salvation, studying His word, and obeying His commands.

Growing Together - We glorify God by being connected, committed, and cultivated by the body of Christ.

Growing the Kingdom - We make Him known to all people by having a heart to reach the lost, and being disciples that replicate disciples.

First Baptist Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. In joining with other churches in the SBC and SBTC, FBC is able to participate in and support missions worldwide.

In connection with our mission statement, our three missional pillars are supported by eight attributes of disciples as defined by the New Testament. These provide the target for spiritual maturity we strive to produce in our members.

  1. Growing in Christ

    • Belief in Christ - Salvation comes from believing in Christ and confessing Him as Lord.

    • Students of Christ - we delight in the reading, studying, and memorization of God’s Word.

    • Obedience to Christ - Daily application of the Word of God to our lives.

  2. Growing Together

    • Connected - Become a member of the local body.

    • Committed - Meaningfully investing in our church family through relationship and service to one another.

    • Cultivated - Engaging in intentional relationships where mature believers help us in growing closer to Jesus

  3. Growing the Kingdom

    • Reaching - Burdened by the lostness of the world, and actively seeking to take the Gospel to the lost.

    • Replicating - Intentionally equipping believers with God’s Word through accountable relationships empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to replicate faithful followers of Christ.

Core beliefs

  • The Bible is the inerrant Word of God and has absolute authority. 

  • There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • When Jesus came to earth, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

  • Jesus is fully God and fully man. 

  • Jesus died, was resurrected, ascended into Heaven and will return to power and glory.

  • Everyone will face the judgment of Christ. People without Christ will be consigned to hell. People who have a relationship with Christ will dwell forever in heaven.

  • Upon genuine conversion, the believer receives the Holy Spirit and is eternally secure.

  • The local church is called to worship, evangelize, and make disciples.
